What is Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a "hands on" approach to health. It is a gentle non- invasive health care modality offering a drug free alternative treatment utilising the body's own recuperative abilities to effect change and optimise function.

Health, and wellness is assessed in terms of quality of life, resistance to disease, optimal function, vitality, strength, endurance, balance and co-ordination according to chiropractic values.

Your GP's and other specialists have a very important role in removing you from a disease state. From there it is up to you (with some help from us) to optimise your health and wellbeing.

Our aim as chiropractors is to improve the function of your nervous system, which allows the body to heal and help itself. The success of your treatment is up to you as chiropractic empowers you to take control of your own health.

Hormonal changes, stress, bad nutrition and bad posture can all contribute to the plateau of health whereby you are not sick, but are not feeling healthy either.

Our main focus is YOU, the patient, NOT the disease state or your symptoms. How can we help in the process of maximising your potential?

A chiropractor utilises a very unique tool to chiropractic called the adjustment. The adjustment is a controlled, very fast, specific force applied to joints in your body that has been identified to have abnormal movement, to restore their proper biomechanical motion and neuromusculoskeletal function.

This skill is developed over many years of university training, 5 years to be exact. There are many forms of adjustments the spine and extremities, either by hands or assisted with other tools. Some methods are quick whereas some require slow, constant or indirect pressure.

All joints have many sensors to identify where they are in space, which are richly "wired" to the whole body by the nervous system. The spine has the greatest concentration of these sensors hence a chiropractors focus is largely on the spine to effect the best response.
